Following his graduation from law school, Hidayat embarked on a dynamic legal career, initially serving as a lawyer at Benedicta & Associates from 1997 to 1999. He then transitioned to Roedl & Partner, a renowned German tax and legal consulting firm, where he held the role of legal advisor from 1999 onwards. His journey continued with roles as an associate lawyer at Assegaf Hamzah & Partners, and subsequently as Corporate Secretary and General Legal Counsel at PT Holcim Indonesia Tbk, a major player in the Indonesian cement industry, during its pivotal turnaround period from 2002 to 2005.

Throughout his legal career, Hidayat has been instrumental in a diverse array of legal transactions, including capital market activities, mergers and acquisitions, debt restructuring, project financing, and matters related to banking and insurance. He has also actively engaged in cases before the Commission for the Supervision of Business Competition (KPPU) and the Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC). His extensive experience extends to the negotiation and drafting of EPC contracts within the mining and energy sectors.

Before co-founding HWMA Law Firm, Hidayat assumed the role of Director of Legal Affairs at a PMA consulting firm specializing in advising on foreign investment and conducting business in Indonesia.

Hidayat's expertise extends beyond traditional legal realms; he provides valuable guidance to entrepreneurs in the creative industry and startup companies, addressing a wide range of issues affecting their business operations, including pre-publication reviews and brand protection strategies. His counsel is frequently sought by boards of directors and senior management on corporate governance, compliance matters, and electronic media law.
